When you think of voting, what’s the first thing you think of? For most people, it’s the “I Voted” sticker–an Instagrammable piece of evidence that you take pride in your civic duty. But here’s the rub with that: you can’t vote if you’re not registered. And at the beginning of 2020, 57% of Texans under 30 weren’t registered.

To get more people to the polls, we needed to come up with a way to make “I Registered” as big a deal as “I Voted”. So we took over the registered symbol and turned it into an eye catching badge of honor for registered voters to proudly display online and IRL.

We increased voter registrations on MOVE’s website by 227%, helped MOVE register over 50K people and had over 20 million views on GIPHY.

Giphy

We turned some of our assets loose on GIPHY for people to use on Instagram. They had over 20 million views, ended up on GIPHY’s trending page, and were used in a collection of GIFs for National Voter Registration Day.

After we drummed up interest on social, we launched a line of merch that allowed voters to literally put the cause on the their backs. But you couldn’t access the gear unless you were registered.
